Drying rice paper in Tho Ha village.
The rice paper-making skill in Tho Ha village, Van Ha ward, Bac Ninh province, has been conserved and developed over hundreds of years, with its own "secrets" for producing famous rice paper. There are already hundreds of households in the community producing rice paper.
The advantage of Tho Ha rice paper is that it is neither too thick nor too thin, that it is soft and easy to roll, and that when soaked in water, it remains chewy. In addition, no additives are used, ensuring food hygiene and safety.
Tho Ha rice paper goods are not only consumed domestically, but also exported internationally. Furthermore, this century-old craft town in Bac Ninh province is a popular tourism site among both local and foreign visitors.
Soong co is a unique, lyrical folk song form genre linked with the spiritual life of the San Diu ethnic group in Luc Ngan district, now in the wards and communes of Phuong Son, Chu, Luc Ngan, Kien Lao, and Nam Duong. Soong co means "love song". The lyrics are simple, rich in metaphors, with a soulful, profound sound. They allow boys and girls to express their feelings, parents to teach their children about human values, and the community to remind one another to unify and bond.
The recognition of Soong Co folk performing art and Tho Ha rice paper making as national intangible cultural heritage not only affirms the unique cultural values of the locality but also opens up opportunities for authorities at all levels and functional sectors in the province to preserve, promote and effectively exploit the heritage potential, serving the development of community tourism, building cultural life and new rural areas.
