Bac Ninh promotes semiconductor cooperation with Amkor Group in Incheon

(BNP) - On the morning of April 24th, in Incheon city, the Bac Ninh provincial delegation led by Mr. Nguyen Hong Thai, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Secretary of the Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee, visited and worked with Amkor Group.

The Bac Ninh delegation including members were Standing Vice Chairman of the Bac Ninh Provincial People's Committee Mai Son; Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Internal Affairs Department Vu Tri Hai; Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Department Vu Minh Hieu.

Receiving and working with the Bac Ninh delegation were Mr. Lee Jin An, General Director of Amkor Group; Mr. Kim Sung Hoon, General Director of Amkor Vietnam, along with leaders from the Group's operations, production, environment - safety - logistics, human resources, and R&D development departments.

Amkor is a world-leading semiconductor packaging and testing company, playing a vital role in the global semiconductor industry value chain, particularly as countries, localities, and enterprises accelerate supply chain restructuring and expand production networks toward safer, more flexible, and more efficient operations.

Secretary Nguyen Hong Thai pledges to create the most favorable conditions for Amkor to develop in Bac Ninh.

In Bac Ninh, Amkor's first semiconductor factory in Vietnam was inaugurated in October 2023 with an initial investment of USD 529 million. By July 2024, Bac Ninh province had issued an amended investment certificate to Amkor Technology Vietnam Co., Ltd., increasing the total investment to USD 1.6 billion.

Mr. Lee Jin An, General Director of Amkor Group, highly appreciates the investment environment, human resources, and support of Bac Ninh province.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Lee Jin An said that Amkor’s project in Vietnam is operating stably, gradually expanding its production scale, and making a positive contribution to the Group’s global supply chain. He highly appreciated the investment environment, human resources, and the support of Bac Ninh province in the project implementation process; and affirmed that Amkor will continue to research and expand investment in the future.

Speaking at the meeting, Comrade Nguyen Hong Thai congratulated Amkor Group on its positive investment and business results. He emphasized that Bac Ninh currently possesses many favorable conditions for developing high-tech industries, especially semiconductor industries, with its strategic geographical location, rapidly developing transportation and industrial infrastructure, a transparent investment environment, and a commitment to supporting businesses.

After being established through the merger of Bac Ninh and Bac Giang provinces, Bac Ninh province covers an area of ​​over 4,700 km², with a population of over 3.6 million people, located in the Red River Delta, the Hanoi Capital Region, and the Northern Key Economic Zone.

Leaders of Bac Ninh Province pledged to continue accompanying, supporting, and creating the most favorable conditions for Amkor to expand production in the province. At the same time, they expressed hope that the Group would further increase investment, strengthen technology transfer, and support Vietnamese enterprises in general, and Bac Ninh-based businesses in particular, to participate more deeply in the global supply chain.
