Launch ceremony of “Protecting and Supporting Children's Development in Online Environment 2026-2030” Program

(BNP) - On the morning of May 29th, the Ministry of Public Security held the launch ceremony of the Program “Protecting and Supporting Children's Development in the Online Environment 2026-2030” in a hybrid format combining in-person and online participation in 34 provinces and cities. Ms. Pham Thi Thanh Tra, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Deputy Prime Minister, chaired the meeting.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the 2026-2030 period will shift from a reactive to a proactive preventive mindset, building a collaborative ecosystem involving families, schools, management agencies, technology companies, and the entire society to protect and support children's comprehensive development in the digital age. Besides the opportunities offered by the internet and digital technology, children still face many risks such as harmful content, fraud, cyberbullying, personal data breaches, and other forms of online abuse.

At the Bac Ninh branch, Colonel Do Duc Trinh, Deputy Director of the Provincial Public Security, chaired the conference. In his remarks, Colonel Do Duc Trinh stated that the province currently has over 721,000 children, approximately two-thirds of whom use internet-connected devices. During the period 2021-2025, the province organized 112 awareness sessions on safe internet use; produced 142 news articles, reports, video clips, and 512 awareness programs; and detected and handled 126 cases related to online child abuse, prosecuting 78 cases with 79 defendants involved in child sexual abuse.

In accordance with Decision No. 468/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister, the Provincial People's Committee issued Plan No. 191 to implement the program with the following objectives: 100% of general education institutions will implement cybersecurity solutions; 100% of internet service providers will apply solutions to block harmful information; and 100% of children who are abused online will receive timely support and intervention.

In the coming time, the Provincial Public Security will strengthen the application of digital technology and artificial intelligence to prevent, detect, and handle acts of child abuse in cyberspace; and at the same time, develop a set of recommendations on the safe use of electronic devices and online games for students during the summer.

On this occasion, leaders of the Provincial Public Security and the Department of Education and Training presented gifts to 10 outstanding students and children from disadvantaged backgrounds in the province.
