(BNP) - On the afternoon of May 25th, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ngo Tan Phuong chaired a courtesy meeting with a delegation from the Japan-Vietnam Peace and Friendship Promotion Council (JVPF) led by Mr. Kawaji Takashi, Chairman of the Kagoshima Province (Japan) Peace and Friendship Promotion Council, to strengthen friendly relations, expand cooperation in many fields, and promote people-to-people exchanges between the two localities.

Delegates attend the meeting.

At the meeting, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee gave an overview of the socio-economic development of Bac Ninh Province following the provincial merger in July 2025. Accordingly, the province is focusing on improving the investment environment, developing synchronized infrastructure, and enhancing the quality of human resources in order to attract investment in key high-tech industries.

Regarding cooperative relations with Japan, Bac Ninh currently has 125 valid investment projects by Japanese enterprises with a total registered capital of approximately USD 1.97 billion, ranking fourth among countries and territories investing in the locality. Japanese enterprises mainly operate in the fields of electronic component manufacturing, precision engineering, and industrial services, making positive contributions to the province’s socio-economic development.

The Vice Chairman highly appreciated the contributions of the Japan-Vietnam International Exchange Foundation in promoting friendship and people-to-people exchanges between Vietnam and Japan in recent years.

He emphasized that Japan is one of Vietnam’s largest ODA partners, and that many Japanese friendship organizations, including JVPF, have carried out a wide range of practical activities in the areas of education, culture, investment, and human resource development.

In particular, JVPF has implemented many meaningful programs, such as supporting disadvantaged and ethnic minority students in overcoming difficulties to continue their studies, as well as organizing visits and presenting gifts to families affected by chemical agents and victims of Agent Orange/dioxin in Bac Ninh province.

On behalf of the provincial leadership, the Vice Chairman expressed sincere gratitude to Japan-Vietnam International Exchange Foundation for actively mobilizing resources to support underprivileged students and for carrying out humanitarian activities in the province over the years.

The province currently has 29 mountainous communes with nearly 80,000 ethnic minority students, of whom more than 30,000 are benefiting from State support policies. Bac Ninh Province also has more than 10,000 people affected by chemical agents, many of whom are still facing difficulties and have not yet received support policies.

The Vice Chairman expressed his hope that the Japan-Vietnam International Exchange Foundation would continue to maintain and expand charitable programs and scholarship support for ethnic minority students from disadvantaged backgrounds, while accompanying and supporting victims of Agent Orange/dioxin as well as Vietnamese workers in Japan.

At the same time, he proposed that JVPF strengthen connections with Japanese organizations and enterprises to explore cooperation and investment opportunities in Bac Ninh Province, and further promote cultural, educational, and people-to-people exchanges between the two sides.
