(BNP) - On the morning of April 9th, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Hoang Son conducted a field inspection to urge the progress of urgent dike and irrigation projects in the province.

Chairman Pham Hoang Son (second from the right) and Vice Chairman Le Xuan Loi (fourth from the left) inspect the progress of the emergency construction project of the Van Thai sluice gate at K9+680 of the right bank of the Thai Binh River (Trung Chinh commune).

During the inspection, Chairman Pham Hoang Son and the delegation inspected the progress of urgent construction projects including: the emergency construction of the Van Thai sluice gate at K9+680 on the right bank of the Thai Binh River (Trung Chinh commune); the emergency handling of riverbank erosion along the sections from K48+800 - K49+300 and K49+840 - K50+100 on the right bank of the Cau River (Kinh Bac ward); the emergency handling of the landslide incident on the embankment of the Ngu Huyen Khe canal (Tien Du, Tam Da, Yen Phong communes); the emergency construction of the Cam Bao pumping station at K20+300 on the left bank of the Cau River (Xuan Cam commune); and the emergency construction of the Van Ha - Tien Son embankment section from K0+160 to K9+000 (Van Ha ward).

At the inspection sites, the projects have been implemented and are progressing to a certain extent. The emergency construction of the Van Thai sluice gate at K9+680 on the right bank of the Thai Binh River (Trung Chinh commune) has reached approximately 60% of its construction volume. It is expected that the post-design appraisal will be completed in April 2026, ensuring the goal of completion before June 30, 2026.

During the on-site inspection, Chairman Pham Hoang Son acknowledged the proactive efforts of investors, contractors, and local authorities in implementing projects under emergency construction orders. At the same time, he candidly highlighted several factors contributing to delays in overall project progress, particularly in projects with substantial workloads where construction has yet to meet the established targets and schedules.

The Chairman requested that departments, localities, and investors focus intensely and implement solutions in a coordinated manner.

Investors and contractors need to increase manpower and equipment, organize the construction of urgent items; proactively adjust construction methods to suit actual weather conditions; and ensure quality, labor safety, and environmental hygiene, he added.
