The investment in upgrading and expanding the provincial road aims to gradually develop and complete the road according to the approved plan, contributing to the synchronous development of infrastructure, meeting the requirements of socio-economic development, and aiming towards the goal of becoming a Type I urban area and a centrally-governed city before 2030.
In addition, the completed project ensures uniformity in technical standards according to the urban planning orientation for PR.293 (section from Hung Vuong overpass to Kham Lang intersection), contributing to strengthening regional and area transportation connectivity; developing urban space, improving the environment and urban landscape; enhancing the service capacity of the road; reducing traffic congestion and the risk of traffic accidents.
According to the Decision, the total length of the project is approximately 7.78 km, consisting of 2 sections: The section from Km7+400 to Km8+400, located in Tan An ward, has a length of approximately 1.0 km; The section from Km13+300 (the intersection leading to Vinh Nghiem Pagoda) to Km20+155 (the Kham Lang intersection) is approximately 6.78 km long, located in Bac Lung commune; the construction area covers approximately 31.37 hectares.
The road is being developed according to urban main axis standards with a general cross-section width of 58.5m; a road surface width of 21m; a central median of 2m; side medians of 3.5m; two side service roads of 18m; and sidewalks of 14m. The project also includes the simultaneous construction of items such as the roadbed, road surface, drainage system, lighting, traffic safety, and technical infrastructure.
Two bridges will be expanded along the route: Lo Bridge and the Kep - Ha Long railway overpass, with the expanded bridge cross-section width matching the scale of the invested route, reaching 50.5m. The planned length of the railway overpass is approximately 73.2m and the Lo Bridge is approximately 62.55m. The intersections along the expanded route are designed to match the scale of the expansion.
This is a Group B project with a total investment of over VND 2,600 billion, funded by the provincial budget. The project is scheduled for implementation from 2026 to 2029.
