Bac Ninh promotes development of science and technology and innovation - Driving force for a new growth model

(BNP) - On the afternoon of May 14th, at the Provincial Conference Center, the Provincial People's Committee organized activities to celebrate Vietnam's Science, Technology and Innovation Day 2026.

Leaders, experts, and scientists press the button to launch the 2026 Digital Civil Servant Competition in response to the "Popular Education in Digital" movement.

Attending program were Mr. Mai Son, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Council for Science, Technology & Innovation; Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; along with numerous experts, scientists, universities, technology enterprises, innovation organizations inside and outside the province, and representatives of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, departments, agencies, and localities in the province.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Mai Son emphasized that in 2025, Bac Ninh achieved significant progress in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation. The province ranked 6th among 34 provinces and cities in the Local Innovation Index and secured the top position nationwide in the digital transformation index. The digital environment has continued to improve in governance, public administration, and service quality for citizens and businesses. Meanwhile, digital infrastructure has expanded rapidly, with 4G coverage reaching 100% and 5G coverage covering 92% of the province. Bac Ninh’s innovation and startup ecosystem has also maintained strong momentum, highlighted by Techfest Bac Ninh 2025, which attracted 231 startup projects, marking an 84% increase compared to the previous year.

At the conference, delegates listened to six presentations delivered directly and reviewed 46 papers submitted for inclusion in the Conference Proceedings. The presentations focused on analyzing, assessing, and proposing key solutions for the development of high-tech industries, the digital economy, the green economy, digital transformation, smart city development, logistics, high-quality human resources, cultural industries, and the heritage economy.

The provincial leader emphasized that the opinions and recommendations presented at the workshop hold significant theoretical and practical value, providing an important foundation for Bac Ninh to further research, formulate policies, and develop suitable economic development solutions in the coming period. He also expressed the province’s hope to continue receiving support, cooperation, and valuable recommendations from experts, scientists, and intellectuals nationwide, contributing to the goal of building a modern, rapidly developing, and sustainable Bac Ninh.

In his concluding remarks at the workshop, Standing Vice Chairman Mai Son expressed his sincere appreciation for the active participation and valuable contributions of representatives from the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, the National Economics University, the Bac Ninh Association of Scientists in Hanoi, as well as experts, scientists, businesses, universities, and science and technology organizations both inside and outside the province.

Within the framework of the program, the Provincial People's Committee signed a cooperation agreement with the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology on research, application of science and technology, innovation and digital transformation for the period 2026 - 2030; and signed a cooperation agreement with the National Economics University on scientific research and training to improve the quality of human resources for the period 2026 - 2030.

On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee awarded certificates to 4 enterprises recognized as high-tech enterprises and science and technology enterprises, including: FUHONG Precision Component Co., Ltd., FUYU Precision Technology Co., Ltd., Bac Giang LGG Garment Corporation, and FUJIKO Vietnam Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. These are enterprises that have invested heavily in research, development, application of high technology, and innovation in production and business.

The program also included the awarding of prizes for the Bac Ninh Province Digital Citizen Competition 2025 in the idea and product category, contributing to spreading the spirit of innovation and the application of digital technology in daily life to 20 authors/groups of authors.

The Organizing Committee awarded the "For the Cause of Science and Technology" commemorative medal to individuals who have made significant and long-term contributions to the development of science and technology in the province.

At this event, the Bac Ninh Robocon Competition Organizing Committee received a sponsorship of over 600 million VND from Foxconn for the 2026 Bac Ninh Robocon Open Competition, aiming to continue creating a technology and STEM playground for young people inside and outside the province.

Also at the program, the Provincial People's Committee officially inaugurated the Bac Ninh Innovation and Entrepreneurship Festival 2026 (Techfest Bac Ninh 2026) and launched the 2026 Digital Civil Servant Competition in response to the "Digital Literacy Movement".
