(BNP) - The Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions has just issued Plan No. 56/KH-SDTTG on implementing the Communication Program on gender equality in ethnic minority and mountainous areas for the period 2026 - 2030 in Bac Ninh province.
Promoting propaganda and dissemination of policies and laws on media equality appropriate to each target group.
The plan aims to raise awareness and responsibility of party committees, authorities, officials, civil servants, public employees, workers and people, especially ethnic minorities in implementing gender equality; contributing to eliminating gender stereotypes, narrowing the gender gap, and enhancing the position of women in ethnic minority and mountainous areas. At the same time, enhance the effectiveness of propaganda and dissemination of laws on gender equality, promoting good traditional cultural values of ethnic groups associated with the goal of sustainable development.
According to the plan, by 2030, 100% of provincial-level ethnic affairs agencies and communes in ethnic minority and mountainous areas will build and deploy activities to respond to the annual Month of Action for Gender Equality; Over 80% of ethnic minority households have access to information and propaganda materials on gender equality policies and laws; 100% of reputable people, village elders, village heads, dignitaries, and religious officials are allowed to propagate and disseminate knowledge and communication skills on gender equality; 100% of officials working on ethnic and religious affairs at all levels are trained and fostered to improve their capacity in this field.
To achieve the set goals, the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions will focus on promoting propaganda and dissemination of policies and laws on gender equality through conferences, competitions, discussions, exchanges and other forms of communication suitable for each target group. Media content is oriented from raising awareness to changing behavior, gradually eliminating prejudice and gender stereotypes in families, schools and communities.
Along with that, communication work will be innovated in both content and form through building specialized pages and sections on the Department's electronic information portal; Compile and distribute communication products such as handbooks, leaflets, posters, and posters with easy-to-understand content, suitable for the specific characteristics of ethnic minority and mountainous areas. Strengthen propaganda on mass media, grassroots radio systems and social network platforms.
Promoting the role of reputable people, village heads, dignitaries, and religious officials in propaganda and advocacy for gender equality; At the same time, promote good traditional cultural values, gradually eliminate outdated customs and practices that affect women's rights and development opportunities.
In addition, inspection and supervision of plan implementation will be integrated with inspection and supervision of ethnic and religious programs and policies; Regularly survey and evaluate people's access to information and awareness of gender equality to promptly adjust and improve implementation efficiency.
The Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions presides over and coordinates with relevant units to implement propaganda, training, and fostering knowledge and skills on gender equality for officials, reputable people, and people in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.
People's Committees of communes in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, based on actual conditions, develop appropriate implementation plans, and at the same time deploy models to change "ways of thinking and working", contributing to enhancing economic empowerment for women and promoting gender equality in the locality./.
