Training conference on counter-terrorism and prevention of proliferation of weapons of mass destruction in 2026

(BNP) - On the morning of June 3rd, the Bac Ninh Provincial Steering Committee for Counter-Terrorism organized a training conference on counter-terrorism and prevention of proliferation of weapons of mass destruction in 2026. Mr. Mai Son, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired the conference.

Also attending the conference were Lieutenant Colonel Le Ngoc Giap, Deputy Director of the Department of Internal Security under the Ministry of Public Security; Colonel Nguyen Anh Tan, Deputy Director of the Political Department of the Chemical Corps under the Ministry of National Defence; and more than 400 delegates, including members of the Provincial Steering Committee for Counter-Terrorism, leaders of departments, agencies, local authorities, armed forces, and organizations responsible for managing key facilities across the province.

In his opening remarks, Standing Vice Chairman Mai Son emphasized the need to strengthen security and safety capabilities amid increasingly complex global and regional developments, particularly as Bac Ninh is implementing major projects such as the Gia Binh International Airport and facilities serving APEC 2027.

At the conference, participants were briefed on key provisions of the Law on Counter-Terrorism, the current domestic and international terrorism situation, and major tasks and solutions for counter-terrorism efforts. Delegates also received specialized training on identifying dual-use goods and assessing risks related to the proliferation and financing of weapons of mass destruction.

Concluding the conference, Standing Vice Chairman Mai Son urged departments, sectors, and localities to continue thoroughly implementing counter-terrorism regulations; strengthen public awareness activities; enhance the effectiveness of state management in maintaining security and public order; proactively review and assess risks; update protection plans for key targets; and remain ready to respond to any emerging situations.

He assigned the Provincial Public Security to continue advising on the organization of training courses and drills to improve response capabilities and ensure preparedness under all circumstances.

On this occasion, the Standing Vice Chairman also called on the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of National Defence to continue supporting the province through professional guidance, improvements to mechanisms and policies, provision of technical equipment, and capacity-building for relevant forces, thereby meeting the requirements of safeguarding security and safety in the new context.
