(BNP) – The Bac Ninh Provincial People’s Committee has approved the investment policy for the construction of Kim Chan Bridge and its approach roads, connecting Provincial Road (PR) 398 with DT.285B. The project has a total investment of more than VND 1.47 trillion, funded by the provincial budget.
The project is expected to help ease traffic congestion on the frontage road running alongside the Hanoi–Bac Giang Expressway and in the area surrounding Nhu Nguyet Bridge on the Hanoi–Lang Son Expressway.
According to the approved plan, the project aims to gradually complete the province’s urban development framework and establish an important interregional transport corridor, strengthening connectivity between key urban areas on both sides of the Cau River. It will also facilitate direct links among major industrial parks, including Song Khe–Noi Hoang, Quang Chau, Van Trung, Dinh Tram, Viet Han, and Que Vo Industrial Parks.
In addition, the bridge is expected to reduce traffic pressure on PR.398, National Highway 37, and Nhu Nguyet Bridge, while improving connectivity between urban areas and industrial zones, reducing congestion, enhancing transport capacity, and ensuring traffic safety.
The project will be implemented in Nenh and Vu Ninh wards, covering an area of approximately 5.98 hectares. The starting point will connect to a planned route within Quang Chau 2 Industrial Park in Nenh Ward, while the endpoint will link to a planned road in Sub-area 1 of the Southeast Bac Ninh City Urban Area Project in Vu Ninh Ward.
The total length of the route will be approximately 0.93 km. The approach roads will feature a 60-meter-wide roadbed, including main carriageways, service roads, medians, and sidewalks in accordance with the approved planning scheme. The project also includes the construction of Kim Chan Bridge across the Cau River, with an estimated length of 721.45 meters. The bridge will be built using reinforced and prestressed reinforced concrete, designed to HL93 load standards. It will consist of two parallel bridge units spaced about five meters apart, each 16 meters wide, accommodating motor vehicle traffic.
The project will also include the construction of roadbeds, pavements, traffic safety systems, drainage, street lighting, landscaping, sidewalks, utility trenches, utility tunnels, and the restoration of related infrastructure within the project area.
Classified as a Group B project, it has a total investment of VND 1.471 trillion. Investment preparation is scheduled for 2026, with implementation planned from 2026 to 2029.
Once completed, the project is expected to meet the growing travel and freight transport demands of residents, workers, and businesses. It will shorten travel times, improve logistics efficiency, strengthen connectivity among industrial parks, and create favorable conditions for attracting investment, particularly from foreign direct investment (FDI) enterprises and international experts to Bac Ninh Province.
