(BNP) – On the morning of April 17, at 3/2 Square (Bac Giang Ward), the People’s Committee of Bac Ninh province held the opening ceremony of Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day 2026 in the province.

In attendance were Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Mai Son; Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairwoman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee Nguyen Thi Ha; Member of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nghiem Xuan Huong; and Deputy Director of the Authority of Publication, Printing and Distribution (Ministry of Information and Communications) Dinh Tien Dung. Also present were leaders of the Provincial Party Committee's Commissions for Propaganda and Education and Mass Mobilization; the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; the Department of Education and Training; along with a large number of officials, teachers, students, and readers.

Delivering the opening speech for Book Day, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Mai Son emphasized that Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day was a practical activity to honor knowledge, spread the spirit of lifelong learning, and build the comprehensive development of Bac Ninh people. He affirmed that in the context of digital transformation and the information explosion, books still held a particularly important role by providing depth of knowledge, helping people train their thinking, nurturing their souls, and perfecting their character, thereby enhancing adaptability in the new era.
In recent years, Bac Ninh province had continuously paid attention to the development of reading culture, step-by-step building a healthy reading environment in schools, families, and society. This had contributed to inspiring the aspiration for advancement through knowledge while preserving and promoting the Kinh Bac cultural identity.
He requested that all levels and sectors continue to promote the development of the library system, modernize reading spaces, and foster digital transformation. He urged the Education sector to focus on building a friendly reading environment, linking reading with the development of students' abilities and character; and encouraged families to strengthen reading habits to create a foundation for a learning society.

Within the framework of the program, a signing ceremony took place for the coordination plan to implement the Reading Culture Development Scheme for the 2026–2030 period between the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Department of Education and Training.
On this occasion, the organizing committee awarded commemorative flags to 13 units participating in book displays and introductions and held an award ceremony for competitions responding to Book Day.
For the painting competition, the organizing committee awarded 01 first prize, 05 second prizes, 10 third prizes, and 25 consolation prizes to participating students. Additionally, the organizing committee awarded 01 first prize, 05 second prizes, 08 third prizes, and 10 consolation prizes to outstanding individuals in the History Knowledge Competition.
Regarding the Artistic Book Modeling Competition, the organizing committee presented 01 first prize, 04 second prizes, 05 third prizes, and 01 thematic award to teams with excellent achievements. These awards not only recognized the efforts and creativity of the contestants but also contributed to encouraging the movement of reading and seeking knowledge among students./.
