Numerous diverse activities, rich in identity at 2026 Do temple festival

(BNP) - People's Committee of Tu Son ward has recently issued Plan No. 83/KH-UBND regarding the organization of the 2026 Do Temple Festival, featuring many unique and diverse activities in both the ceremonial and festive parts. This is one of the major festivals in the Kinh Bac region, attracting a large number of tourists from all directions for pilgrimage and sightseeing.

Do temple festival attracts a large number of visitors every year.

Ancient Do temple is located in Dinh Bang village, Co Phap district (now Tu Son ward, Bac Ninh province), and is the place of worship for the kings of the Ly Dynasty. Do Temple was ranked as a Special National Monument in 2014. Historically, the Do Temple Festival is held annually according to ancient customs on the 15th day of the 3rd lunar month to commemorate the coronation of King Ly Thai To - Ly Cong Uan, who issued the Edict on the Transfer of the Capital from Hoa Lu to Thang Long in the year of Canh Tuat (1010), initiating one of the most prosperous periods in the nation's history.

This year, the Do Temple Festival is organized to celebrate the 1,016th anniversary of King Ly Thai To's coronation (1010 - 2026), taking place from April 30 to May 2, 2026 (i.e., from the 14th to the 16th of the 3rd month in the year of Binh Ngo) at the Do Temple Special National Monument and surrounding areas at the ward level, organized by the People's Committee of Tu Son ward.

The ceremonial part includes activities such as rituals and incense offerings at the Do Temple Special National Monument and Ly Dynasty-related relics within Tu Son ward; the procession from Do Temple - Rong Temple to Ung Tam Pagoda and the Mother Goddess procession from Ung Tam Pagoda to Do Temple; and the solemn recitation of King Ly Thai To's Edict on the Transfer of the Capital.

The festive part will include an exhibition of antiques at the Nam Hong Royal Museum and the opening of an Ornamental Creature exhibition; the opening of a pedestrian street with activities introducing the Bac Ninh Quan ho cultural space, street culture, folk games, book displays, and a 3-region culinary space, etc. There will also be Quan ho singing on dragon boats on the semicircular lake, Dong Ngu water puppetry performances; competitions in Chinese chess, wrestling, volleyball, table tennis, a pickleball tournament, Phu The cake wrapping contest, clay pot rice cooking contest, poetry exchange, clay pot breaking game, pig catching, pigeon flying competition, senior calisthenics, and a general art program, etc.

A trade fair titled “Stimulating Bac Ninh Trade,” bringing Vietnamese goods to rural areas, will also be held from April 29, 2026, to May 4, 2026, at the Do Temple parking area, Tu Son ward, with hundreds of booths from typical enterprises and cooperatives within and outside the province participating.

To ensure a well-organized festival, the People's Committee of Tu Son ward has established and assigned specific tasks to the members of the Steering Committee and the Festival Organizing Board; directing relevant agencies and units to develop detailed plans to implement tasks before, during, and after the festival.

In particular, great emphasis is placed on decoration and communication; infrastructure preparation; ensuring security and order, traffic safety, fire prevention, healthcare, environmental sanitation, and food safety; as well as signing commitments to sell at listed prices and ensure quality... at the festival, aiming to create a beautiful image for visitors returning to the event./.
