Performing Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs on boats at Nguyen Phi Y Lan lake

(BNP) - On the evening of April 29, at Nguyen Phi Y Lan lake (Kinh Bac ward), the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized a Bac Ninh Quan Ho Folk Song performance program on boats with the "The country is full of joy" theme.

The program was a practical activity to celebrate the 51st anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day on April 30 (1975 - 2026); the 72nd anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory on May 7 (1954 - 2026); and the 136th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's Birthday on May 19 (1890 - 2026).

Attending and enjoying the program were Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and Standing Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council Tran Thi Hang; leaders of several provincial departments, boards, and sectors; Kinh Bac ward, and a large number of local people.

With revolutionary songs standing the test of time, blended with the sophisticated, profound, and subtle beauty of passionate and sweet folk songs, the Quan Ho performance program on boats themed "The country is full of joy" brought the public a unique artistic space with many fresh experiences, recalling the memories of previous generations while touching the hearts and emotions of today's youth.

The program was structured into two parts: The stage performance featured acts such as: The Country is Full of Joy, Song of Reunification, Faith in the Party, and an instrumental medley of Song of Ho Chi Minh - A Round of Vietnam.

The boat performance featured ancient and new Quan Ho melodies that were passionate and deep, such as: My Hometown Quan Ho Village, I Am a Daughter of Bac Ninh, The Wind Sways the Cabbage Plant, Forever Remembering, Sitting by the Boat's Side, Sparkling, Clear Moon and Cool Breeze, Who Goes Downstream, Come to the Land of Quan Ho, My Dear, and Please Come Back as Promised, etc.


The program is elaborately staged, awakening pride in the cultural traditions of the Bac Ninh homeland.

The program expressed the sacred emotions of Bac Ninh people on the country's major holidays, thereby promoting and educating the younger generation to continue the patriotic tradition, showing deep gratitude to the ancestors who sacrificed their blood for national independence and reunification; awakening pride in cultural traditions and enhancing the awareness and responsibility of the community in preserving and promoting the values of the Bac Ninh Quan Ho Folk Song heritage.

Along with the Quan Ho performance on boats, there were also street art activities, cuisine, and more to serve the experience needs of the people and tourists.


Tourists from the Federal Republic of Germany expressed their happiness when visiting the Bac Ninh homeland for the first time and enjoying the Quan Ho singing program on boats.

Notably, from the evening of April 29 to May 3, at Bac Ninh Museum No. 2 (Ly Thai To Street, Kinh Bac Ward), the experiential education program "Reunification Festival" took place with many attractive activities such as: opening for visitors to the "Typical Antiquities of Bac Ninh Province" exhibition, Quan Ho singing, Then singing, Dong Ho painting printing, woodblock printing, wearing Quan Ho costumes, preparing phoenix-winged betel quids, painting ceramic pictures, and painting flags on conical hats.

In addition, the program also featured culinary experience activities such as making Banh Day (sticky rice cake) of the Nung ethnic group, five-colored sticky rice of the Tay and Nung ethnic groups, and making Banh Khuc (cudweed cake) of Diem Village; along with many folk games such as bamboo dancing, blindfolded duck catching, blindfolded pot smashing, catching eels in jars, tug of war, and mandarin square capturing, etc.
