(BNP) - On December 22nd, Standing Vice Chairman of the Bac Ninh Provincial People's Committee Mai Son visited and extended New Year greetings to the Embassies of Japan, India, and Laos in Hanoi on the occasion of the New Year 2026.

At the Japanese Embassy, Mr. Ishikawa Isamu, Deputy Ambassador of Japan to Vietnam, met and worked with the Bac Ninh provincial delegation. Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Mai Son highlighted that Japanese businesses are important partners for Bac Ninh province, with 126 projects and a total registered investment capital of approximately USD 1.98 billion; ranking 5th out of 42 provinces in terms of FDI investment. Bac Ninh is now implementing 4 ODA projects supported by the Japanese Government with a total investment of approximately USD 13.5 billion; and has received 20 donations from Japanese non-governmental organizations with a value exceeding USD 1.19 million.

Standing Vice Chairman Mai Son expressed his hope that the Japanese Embassy would pay attention to and support the organization of investment and trade promotion activities, attracting FDI enterprises to invest in the province. He also hoped that the Embassy would serve as an important bridge in supporting Bac Ninh province to expand friendly cooperation with several localities in Japan, contributing to promoting multilateral diplomatic relations between localities of Vietnam and Japan.
Mr. Ishikawa Isamu, Deputy Ambassador of Japan, thanked Bac Ninh province for its sentiments and expressed his personal interest in Bac Ninh province. The Embassy will strengthen connections with businesses and localities as proposed by Bac Ninh province, contributing to elevating the relationship between Bac Ninh and several localities in Japan to a new level.

Next, the delegation visited and extended New Year greetings at the Indian Embassy. Mr. Excellency Tshering W. Sherpa, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Vietnam received the delegation.
At the reception, Standing Vice Chairman Mai Son said that, the province has now 3 active FDI projects from Indian investors with a total registered investment capital of USD 14.2 million. Over the past 10 years, the province has received 2 aid grants from the Indian Embassy totaling USD 50,000.
He expressed his wish for the Indian Embassy to support the connection with Indian speakers so that in 2026, the province can organize an international Buddhist conference, thereby helping the province to gain more valuable materials to restore the cultural values of Buddhism and contribute to elevating Bac Ninh's tourism to a new level.
Furthermore, the province hoped that the Indian Embassy would continue to introduce Indian investors to investigate, cooperate, and develop with enterprises in the province; support cultural exchange, sports, and tourism; and organize Yoga activities in the area.

Regarding the province's proposals, Mr. Tshering W. Sherpa affirmed that Bac Ninh is a very important partner, and the province also shares similarities in Buddhist culture and beliefs. The Embassy is ready to connect with Buddhist scholars and speakers from India to attend the Buddhist Conference in Bac Ninh province in 2026. This can be considered an important political event in the series of events commemorating the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

During a New Year greetings visit to the Lao Embassy, hosted by Ambassador Khamphao Ernthavanh, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao People's Democratic Republic to Vietnam, Comrade Mai Son emphasized that Bac Ninh province has recently focused on directing and implementing the Vietnam-Laos High-Level Agreement and central government directives on cooperation with Laos, as well as signing and implementing cooperation agreements.
In order to strengthen cooperation and friendship between localities of Laos and Bac Ninh province, Standing Vice Chairman Mai Son expressed his wish that the Lao Embassy would pay attention to, support, and act as a liaison to promote cooperation between Bac Ninh province and localities of Laos.
Ms. Khamphao Ernthavanh expressed gratitude for the attention and assistance that Bac Ninh province has provided to several localities in Laos in the past. She also affirmed that she will continue to closely coordinate with local authorities in Laos to effectively implement cooperation programs between the two sides, contributing to strengthening the special friendship and comprehensive development of localities in Vietnam and Laos.
On this occasion, the Standing Vice Chairman presented flowers and gifts, and introduced the strong and typical agricultural products of Bac Ninh province to the Embassies. He also extended Christmas and New Year 2026 greetings to the Ambassadors in Vietnam.
