(BNP) - On the afternoon of July 20, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Phan The Tuan chaired a meeting with relevant departments, agencies, localities, the project investor and contractors to review the progress of the Provincial Road (PR).293 upgrading and expansion project, from Bac Giang Ward to the branch road leading to Vinh Nghiem Pagoda.

Launched on March 31, 2026, the project runs through Tan Tien, Tan An and Bac Lung communes and wards, with a total investment of more than VND 1.799 trillion and an implementation period from 2025 to 2028. The road stretches over 8.8 km, with a roadbed width of 58.5 meters, and comprises two construction packages, Nos. 9 and 10.
As of now, 58.88% of the 2026 capital plan has been disbursed. Site clearance is underway in the affected localities. Bac Lung Commune has basically completed site clearance for an area of 5.44 hectares, with compensation costs estimated at around VND 20 billion. Tan Tien Ward has completed the inventory and declaration procedures for 325 out of 447 households, while Tan An Ward has completed the procedures for 449 out of 609 households.
Regarding construction progress, Package No. 9 has completed 12 trial soil-cement piles and is expected to begin mass construction on July 25, 2026. Package No. 10 is carrying out roadbed excavation and embankment works and preparing for bored pile construction at Thuong Tung Bridge.
At the meeting, delegates highlighted several difficulties affecting site clearance in Tan Tien and Tan An wards, the relocation of technical infrastructure facilities, shortages of embankment soil materials, and frequent rainfall, all of which have impacted construction progress.
Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman Phan The Tuan acknowledged the efforts of the project investor, local authorities and contractors, and commended Bac Lung Commune for basically completing site clearance. He emphasized that site clearance is a key task that determines the project's progress, asking localities to develop specific plans and strive to complete matters related to graves and resettlement by September 2026. Bac Lung Commune was requested to complete all site clearance work in August 2026.
Relevant departments, agencies and localities were urged to urgently review and finalize compensation, support and resettlement plans, as well as inventory and formulate plans for relocating technical infrastructure facilities. The project investor and contractors were asked to mobilize sufficient personnel, machinery and equipment, make maximum use of the handed-over site areas to accelerate construction, and ensure traffic safety, occupational safety and project quality./.
