(BNP) - Deputy Prime Minister Le Tien Chau signed Decision No. 973/QD-TTg approving the School Health Program for the period 2026-2035.
The beneficiaries of the Program are preschool children, students, and university students being nurtured, cared for, educated, and trained at preschools, primary and secondary schools, special schools, continuing education centers, vocational education and continuing education centers, vocational training institutions, and higher education institutions.
The goal of the Program is to improve the quality and effectiveness of school health services and activities related to health education, protection, care, and management in educational institutions to ensure conditions for learners' comprehensive physical and mental development; Contributing to the achievement of breakthrough goals and solutions in education and training development, and strengthening the protection, care, and improvement of people's health.
Setting a target for the period 2026-2030: 60% of public preschool and general education institutions will have dedicated school health staff with the required medical expertise.
100% of higher education institutions, colleges, vocational schools, boarding schools, ethnic boarding schools, ethnic semi-boarding schools, and schools for people with disabilities will have dedicated school health staff with the required medical expertise.
100% of educational institutions will have a separate medical room with sufficient essential medicines and medical equipment; sufficient drinking water and water for daily use of guaranteed quality; and organized meals and other food and beverage services that meet hygiene and food safety standards.
100% of preschool and general education institutions organize monitoring and assessment of children's and students' nutritional status according to regulations.
80% of educational institutions have sanitary facilities for students that meet the prescribed standards and the needs of people with disabilities.
100% of educational institutions organize communication and education activities on protecting, caring for, and improving health, school nutrition, and mental health.
100% of students receive health check-ups or disease screenings at least once a year and have their health information updated and managed in an electronic health record connected to the National Population Database.
By the period 2031-2035, promote the effective implementation of protecting, caring for, and improving the health of students in educational institutions; maintain the results achieved in the period 2026-2030; The program aims to achieve 100% of the targets regarding human resources and facilities to meet the needs of people with disabilities.
To achieve this goal, the program outlines six key tasks and solutions: improving policies, strengthening school health personnel, upgrading facilities, promoting health education and communication, applying digital technology in student health management, and enhancing coordination and mobilizing social resources.
