(BNP) - On September 25, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor held a groundbreaking ceremony for the trade union social housing project in Viet Yen ward. This is one of three projects to be launched to welcome the 1st Congress of the Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee, term 2025 - 2030, according to the plan of the Provincial People's Committee.

Attending the groundbreaking ceremony were comrades: Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, member of the Party Central Committee, Vice President, General Secretary of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee; Nguyen Dinh Khang, member of the Party Central Committee, Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; Nguyen Van Gau, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Nguyen Viet Oanh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council.
According to the report of the Trade Union Project Management Board (the investor), the project is being built in the residential area on Ho Cong Du Street, Viet Yen Ward, with a scale of 10 floors (total floor area of more than 30,100 m²), comprising 477 self-contained rental apartments equipped with elevators and basic furnishings. In addition, there will be a 3-storey parking building with a total floor area of more than 3,000 m². The project will be carried out by six contractors and one supervision consultant unit, with the expected completion time in June 2027.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Vice Chairman Dao Quang Khai affirmed that this is an important event, demonstrating the deep concern of the Party, State, Government, and the companionship of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor for the lives of workers and laborers.
He said that in recent times, Bac Ninh province has been very determined and resolute in its leadership, direction, and issuance of many policies and solutions to promote the development of social housing. Up to now, the province has 77 social housing projects under implementation with a total area of about 280 hectares, expected to supply about 114,400 apartments upon completion. Since the beginning of 2025, the province has completed an additional 12,649 apartments, reaching about 80% of the 2025 plan; at the same time, the province is actively selecting and assigning investors to implement new projects, striving to complete the target of 135,000 apartments by 2030.

He believed that with the attention of all levels, sectors, and investors as well as the close direction of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the project would be completed on schedule and according to set goals, making practical contributions to the province’s social security goals and sustainable development.

Speaking at the ceremony, President Nguyen Dinh Khang emphasized that the trade union social housing project in Bac Ninh Province is the second of its kind (the first was launched in Dong Thap Province), invested by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor using trade union financial resources in accordance with Housing Law No. 27/2023/QH15 dated November 27, 2023. This project carries important social significance, helping to address housing difficulties faced by trade union members and workers in industrial parks and export processing zones in Bac Ninh in particular, and across the country in general.
In the coming time, he hoped that the Provincial Party Committee, People's Committee, and authorities at all levels of Bac Ninh province would always accompany and support the project to complete, put into operation, and strive to exceed the set schedule.
