At the meeting, Standing Vice Chairman Mai Son introduced the Bac Ninh province’s general scale and potential after the merger as well as its socio-economic situation and the economic growth in recent times. Bac Ninh province has now an area of 4,718.6 km², a population of more than 3.6 million people and ranks fifth in the country in terms of economic scale. Currently, there are over 3,270 FDI enterprises in the province, with a total registered capital of nearly USD 45 billion, of which about 1,455 Chinese enterprises with a total investment capital of about USD 11 billion.
Son also said that Bac Ninh has a unique culture with many historical relics, folk festivals, traditional craft villages and many types of cultural heritages that have been recognized at the national and international levels. Bac Ninh province is very interested in foreign affairs, especially with the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China. In September 2023, the People's Committee of the former Bac Ninh and Bac Giang provinces signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a mechanism for government cooperation consultation with the Nanning City Government, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
