Bac Ninh promotes economic - trade cooperation with Canby city (USA)

(BNP) - Within the framework of the visit and working session in the United States, the delegation of Bac Ninh province led by Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Head of the Provincial National Assembly Deputies Delegation Nguyen Thi Huong held a working session with the Canby City Council, Oregon state, and attended the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Canby City Council and the Bac Ninh Department of Industry and Trade.

Also participating in the delegation were Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mobilization Department Nguyen Dinh Loi; Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Phan The Tuan; Deputy Head of the Provincial National Assembly Deputies Delegation Tran Van Tuan, and leaders of several departments and sectors.

Receiving and working with the delegation were Mrs. Christine Drazan, Oregon State Senator; Mrs. Traci Hensley, President of the Canby City Council; Mr. Brian Hodson, Mayor of Canby City; Mr. Hoang Anh Tuan, Consul General of Vietnam in San Francisco.

At the working session, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Huong expressed her joy at the respectful and cordial reception given by the government and people of Canby city to the Bac Ninh provincial delegation. Visiting Canby city for the first time, she was deeply impressed by the peaceful beauty, friendly living environment, and dynamic development of the local area featuring a harmonious combination of agriculture, manufacturing industry, and trade services.

The Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee affirmed that the visit and working session of the Bac Ninh delegation took place in the context of excellent development in Vietnam - US relations, especially after the two countries upgraded their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership. On that foundation, Bac Ninh province always valued and prioritized expanding cooperation with US partners, while believing that close connections at the local level would practically contribute to nurturing and promoting deeper, more effective, and sustainable relations between the two nations.

Mrs. Nguyen Thi Huong emphasized that Bac Ninh was a locality with rapid industrial development and an attractive investment environment, currently focusing on building a high-tech industrial ecosystem, green industry, and developing the digital economy. With significant potential and room for cooperation, Bac Ninh province wished to strengthen connections with US localities and businesses in trade, investment, logistics, industrial manufacturing, high-tech agriculture, education, and cultural exchange.


Mrs. Nguyen Thi Huong and the Bac Ninh provincial delegation present Dong Ho paintings, which are deeply imbued with traditional Vietnamese cultural identity, to the Mayor and Canby City Council.

She expressed expectations that the cooperative relationship between the Bac Ninh Department of Industry and Trade and the Canby City Council would continue to develop substantially and effectively, becoming an important bridge to promote friendly relations between Bac Ninh province and Oregon state in the coming time. At the same time, she hoped that both sides would actively implement the committed contents, creating a favorable environment for the business community of Canby city in particular and Oregon state in general to expand trade promotion and two-way import-export with Bac Ninh and Vietnam.

The Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee also requested the Canby government and City Council to continue accompanying and supporting Bac Ninh province in organizing investment and trade promotion activities in the locality; while creating conditions for both sides to enhance cultural promotion and people-to-people exchanges, thereby contributing to improving mutual understanding and tightening the friendship between the people of the two localities.

Speaking at the working session, Canby City Mayor Brian Hodson expressed his honor to welcome Mrs. Nguyen Thi Huong and the Bac Ninh provincial delegation to visit and work in the locality. He affirmed that this meeting was of particularly important significance, marking a new step forward in building a sustainable international cooperative relationship between the two localities, focusing on trade, investment, innovation, and economic cooperation.

According to Mayor Brian Hodson, the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation with the Bac Ninh Department of Industry and Trade was not only ritualistic but also a milestone opening up many substantial cooperation opportunities in international trade, manufacturing, logistics, agricultural export, education, tourism, and cultural exchange. This agreement was also part of a broader connecting effort between Oregon state and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam, based on the cooperation agreement signed since 2022.

The Mayor of Canby city highly appreciated the connecting role of Mrs. Amy Nguyen, President and Founder of Dragonberry Produce, in promoting cooperative relations between the two localities, contributing to strengthening the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Oregon state in particular and the United States in general. He also affirmed that the Canby city government always treasured the relationships being built with Vietnamese partners and expects this cooperation to bring many development opportunities in the future.

The content of the agreement focused on serving as a bridge to promote cooperation, enhancing the exchange of experience in economic, trade, and potential fields, supporting and creating favorable conditions to promote investment and cooperation between the two sides.

On this occasion, the Bac Ninh provincial delegation presented the Mayor and the Canby City Council with a Dong Ho painting deeply imbued with traditional Vietnamese cultural identity.

Mrs. Nguyen Thi Huong also introduced the history of formation, artistic value, and unique cultural significance of Dong Ho folk paintings - a intangible cultural heritage newly inscribed by UNESCO on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding.

After the working session and the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation, the Bac Ninh provincial delegation visited Dragonberry Produce Company, an enterprise with many contributions to promoting cooperation between the two localities, while actively supporting the removal of difficulties and expanding the consumption market for fresh Vietnamese lychees in the United States./.
